UFC Fight Night: Nelson vs Struve
Roy Nelson (15-4-0) vs Stefan Struve (23-3-0)
UFC Fight Night Betting Line: Nelson -350

Fighting at the latest card for Spike TV’s UFC Fight Night series, Roy “Big Country” Nelson will get locked in to the octagon with Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve in a heavyweight contest, the lead up to the Kenny Florian-Takanori Gomi main event. This fight will feature a couple of mixed martial arts veterans, each boasting knock out power, and who prefer to stand up and strike their opponents rather than go to ground.

Leading Up To UFC Fight Night: Roy Nelson

Big Country has been around the block as the saying goes, with 15 wins in 19 total mixed martial arts professional fights, Nelson has been through the UFC, FightForce, IFL, BoDog, the EliteXC and more. No matter where has gone, Nelson has experience success, with most of it coming by the same result: knockout. This 263-pound monster has knocked out opponents in eight of his 15 wins, with four more of those wins coming via submission. His knockout power was on display in the Ultimate Fighter Season 10, where he made his Ultimate Fighting Championships debut by knocking out Brandan Schaub just under four minutes in to the first round of their bout, a shot that earned the fight Knockout of the Night Honours. Big Country packs a lot of meat behind his punches, and those heavy hands are his most dangerous weapon.

Leading Up To UFC Fight Night: Stefan Struve

The 22-year old in known as the Skycraper for his six-foot 11-inch height, an asset that helped him become established in the world of kickboxing before making the transition to mixed martial arts on a full-time basis. After experiencing success with a variety of different fighting stables, Stuve signed a four-fight deal with the UFC in 2009, and and although he fell to Junior Dos Santo in his debut, the Skyscraper has dominated his competition since. Struve submitted Denis Stojnic with a rear naked choke hold at UFC: 99, then used a triangle choke hold to submit Chase Gormley under three minutes in to the first round of their fight at UFC: 104, a fight that won Submission of the Night honors. His win over Paul Buentello at UFC: 107 prompted the youngster to sign another four-fight deal, which starts with Nelson at UFC Fight Night: Florian vs Gomi. Florian for the Win.

UFC Fight Night Betting: Nelson vs Struve Match Up

Despite his success in Mixed Martial Arts, Struve has never fought anyone with either the talent or experience of Nelson, besides in his debut when he lost to Junior Dos Santos. Big Country is a well-rounded, veteran fighter with a good center who won’t compromise his position in order to take a risk. His knockout power is lethal, and with Struve’s massive length, there will be no shortage of areas for Nelson to attack. This fight could go a couple of rounds, but eventually Nelson wins via knockout.
